John and Virginia Butzer Universal Design sculpture

John and Virginia Butzer Universal Design sculpture at Mary Freebed YMCA

At the center of the sculpture is a quote by Mary Oliver. “Tell me, what it is you plan to do With your one wild and precious life?” Mary was an American poet who won the Pulitzer Prize in 1984. The Butzer’s were inspired by this quote and placed it at the center of their gift to remind each of us to celebrate all that you are capable of.

The sculpture can be viewed at the Mary Free Bed YMCA. As you admire the sculpture’s beauty and ever changing dynamics, I invite you to reflect on the challenges you face and the Mary Oliver quote. Together we can find inspiration and strength.

"Tell me, what it is you plan to do With your one wild and precious life?"
